At its 75th Annual General Body Meeting in Thiruvananthapuram, the Kerala Cricket Association (KCA) elected new office bearers and approved a one-year comprehensive action plan to upgrade cricket infrastructure and player development to international standards.
Adv. Sreejith V. Nair, former treasurer and secretary, has been elected President. Satheesan K., previously a member of the Apex Council, has been elected Vice President. Incumbent Secretary Vinod S. Kumar and Joint Secretary Bineesh Kodiyeri continue in their roles.
T. Ajith Kumar, Secretary of the Palakkad District Cricket Association, has been elected Treasurer. Muhammed Naufal T., Secretary of the Kasaragod District Cricket Association, has been appointed as the General Body Representative
to the Apex Council.
Key Elements of the One-Year Action Plan
The plan focuses on infrastructure expansion and player empowerment, utilizing the Kerala Sports Infrastructure Development Scheme and concessions under the Land Act. Cricket grounds and facilities will be developed across all 14 districts, alongside infrastructure for other sports to ensure uniform training standards.
The General Body expressed appreciation to the State Government, including the Chief Minister, Revenue Minister, Agriculture Minister, and Sports Minister, for the scheme and land regulation relaxations.
Notable initiatives include constructing an international cricket stadium in Kochi in collaboration with the State Government. President Adv. Sreejith V. Nair stated that discussions will proceed for a long-term lease of the Sports Hub International Stadium in Thiruvananthapuram and establishment of a High Altitude Sports Centre in Munnar for cricket, football, and other sports.
Kerala Women's Premier League on the Horizon
The Kerala Women's Premier League will launch soon to strengthen women's cricket. Secretary Vinod S. Kumar noted that structured competitions will build a competitive state women's team.
KCA Cricket Academies will be established in Idukki and Thiruvananthapuram for talent identification and scientific training in fitness, skills, and professional mentoring. The existing High Performance Centre will be enhanced with sports science laboratories, fitness and rehabilitation facilities, and expert coaches.
