Ahead of the third edition of the Kerala Cricket League (KCL), the Kerala Cricket Association (KCA) has announced the launch of the KCL Fan League, a first-of-its-kind turf cricket tournament exclusively for cricket enthusiasts across the state.
The initiative aims to bring turf cricket into the mainstream while giving passionate fans an opportunity to experience competitive cricket on professional-quality grounds. The Fan League is expected to further boost the popularity of the Kerala Cricket League, which has witnessed growing support with every passing season.
The tournament will begin with its first matches in Thiruvananthapuram on July 4 and 5, with competitions being held on modern cricket turfs using soft tennis balls.
Six districts to host KCL Fan League
The competition will
be held across the six districts that currently have franchises in the Kerala Cricket League:
Thiruvananthapuram: July 4-5
Kozhikode: July 11-12
Thrissur: July 18-19
Kochi: July 25-26
Alappuzha: August 1-2
Kollam: August 8-9
Each district can accommodate 32 teams, with the matches being played in a knockout format. Every participating squad must consist of 11 players.
Champions Round and prize money
The six district champions will qualify for the Champions Round, where they will battle for the overall KCL Fan League title. The top two teams in the Champions Round points table will advance to the grand finale.
The Kerala Cricket Association has announced attractive cash rewards:
District Level
Champions: ₹25,000 and trophy
Runners-up: ₹15,000
State Final
Champions: ₹30,000 and the prestigious KCL Fan League Champions Trophy
In addition, every participant will receive an official Kerala Cricket Association participation certificate.
KCL Fan League registration process
Registration for the KCL Fan League is completely free.
Teams wishing to participate must create a one-minute video introducing their squad and upload it to their social media accounts. Entries will be judged based on presentation, creativity, editing quality and audience engagement.
Participants must tag both @KeralaCricketAssociation and @kcl_t20 while posting the video. After uploading, teams need to send the post link via WhatsApp to complete their registration.
