The business end of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 season delivered yet another blockbuster encounter as Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) took on the Rajasthan Royals (RR) in the high-stakes Eliminator.
Staged at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium in Mullanpur, the do-or-die fixture featured relentless power-hitting and spectacular batting displays. Standing tall amidst the pressure was Rajasthan Royals' wicketkeeper-batter Dhruv Jurel, whose heroics on the big stage left fans and cricket pundits in absolute awe.
Stepping up to the crease during a tense knockout game, Dhruv Jurel showcased his incredible temperament and elite ball-striking ability. Jurel played an absolute blinder, hammering a blistering 50 runs off just
21 deliveries. His fluent and destructive knock, laced with five boundaries and three massive sixes, proved vital in maintaining the Royals' sheer dominance over the SRH bowling attack. This explosive innings not only kept the run rate surging but also set the stage for a historic personal achievement.
Dhruv Jurel joins Sanju Samson
Jurel's blistering half-century was not just a match-defining knock; it was a monumental personal milestone that saw him breach the highly coveted 500-run barrier for the first time in a single IPL campaign. By doing so, the dynamic keeper-batter etched his name in franchise folklore, becoming only the third Rajasthan Royals player to achieve this remarkable feat in a single edition. He joins an elite club alongside Riyan Parag (573 runs in 2024) and Sanju Samson (531 runs in 2024). With this innings, Jurel's current tally stands at a phenomenal 508 runs in IPL 2026.
Furthermore, this knock marked Jurel's sixth 50-plus score of the ongoing season, cementing his reputation as one of RR's most incredibly consistent performers. He now stands shoulder-to-shoulder with franchise legends in the exclusive list for the most 50-plus scores in a single campaign, joining the likes of Jos Buttler (8 in 2022) and Yashasvi Jaiswal (6 in 2023 and 6 in 2025).
Before Jurel took center stage, the foundation of the mammoth Rajasthan Royals total was laid by the jaw-dropping pyrotechnics of 15-year-old opening sensation Vaibhav Sooryavanshi. The teenage prodigy immediately took control of the powerplay with fearless and aggressive strokeplay, showing zero respect for the star-studded SRH pace attack. Sooryavanshi launched SRH skipper Pat Cummins for 23 runs in a single over, bringing up his half-century in just 16 balls. He went on to smash an unbelievable 97 off just 29 balls, featuring 12 towering sixes.
