Reigning ONE Featherweight Muay Thai World Champion Tawanchai PK Saenchai details how fatherhood has transformed his life and motivation before his featherweight kickboxing clash with Liu Mengyang in the main
event of ONE Friday Fights 137 on 19 December.
The Thai brings a 10-2 promotional record and impressive 134-32 career mark into this kickboxing showdown. One of the most charismatic strikers in combat sports, Tawanchai has two kickboxing victories under the ONE banner.
For Tawanchai, becoming a father has completely transformed his perspective on fighting and life. He revealed that thinking of his son provides renewed energy during challenging training sessions and difficult moments, multiplying his motivation to succeed.
"Being a father has changed my life. When I feel tired, I think of him. The motivation I had before has now doubled or tripled. I have a duty to be a good man, as a father loves his child," Tawanchai said.
"I hope that when my son grows up, no matter what difficulties or discouragement he faces, he remembers his father and knows he must fight forward, just like me. "
The 26-year-old views his fighting career as more than personal achievement. Tawanchai wants his son to witness his perseverance and determination, providing a living example of never surrendering when facing adversity or setbacks.
Despite his legendary status in Muay Thai, Tawanchai doesn't pressure his son to follow in his footsteps as a professional fighter. He simply wants his child to train in Muay Thai for self-defense purposes rather than competitive glory.
"I don't expect my son to become a Muay Thai fighter like me. I just want him to train in Muay Thai for self-defense. My family is always supporting me from behind, so right now, my focus is entirely on winning that Kickboxing World Championship," Tawanchai said.
