Igor Thiago’s stunning season continued with two goals in Brentford’s 2-2 draw against Everton, a result that kept both clubs locked together on points in the Premier League table and left Keith Andrews praising the forward as the complete centre-forward after another record-breaking display.
The Bees stayed seventh and extended their run to four consecutive draws, yet missed a chance to move above sixth place when Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall struck in stoppage time. Everton matched Brentford on points but remained eighth because of an inferior goal difference, while both teams stayed firmly in the European qualifying race.
Thiago’s brace at the Gtech Community Stadium lifted the striker to 21 Premier League goals this season. That total set two major
marks: the first time a Brazilian scored 20 or more in a single Premier League campaign, and the highest league tally recorded by any Brentford player in one season.
Those goals also extended a dominant personal run against Everton. Thiago had already hit a hat-trick in the reverse fixture at Hill Dickinson Stadium. With five strikes across the two league meetings, the 24-year-old became the first player to score at least five times against Everton in a single Premier League season.
Thiago’s domestic form has carried into the international stage. During the recent international break, the forward made a senior debut for Brazil and scored in a 3-1 win over Croatia. That contribution capped a rapid rise for a player who has turned this campaign into a personal landmark at club and country level.
Andrews highlighted how Thiago’s influence extends beyond finishing. "He's in an amazing place with how he's playing," Andrews said. "There's a confidence and rhythm to his game. To play for his national team was his dream. We always have full confidence in him. He's always involved. He gives a platform for us to play off. He's amazing in both boxes. The work-rate off the ball. He's on that upward trajectoryall the things that make a complete centre-forward. "
Despite the late setback against Everton, Andrews felt Brentford delivered a strong overall performance, especially after half-time. "We wanted to attack the game and try to win," Andrews added. "Thats the nature of every game. When you're winning going into injury time, you feel like you're in a good position. We worked hard to get into that position. We played well in the second half until we scored. The equaliser was disappointing for us. "

Everton also had reasons to feel encouraged after twice responding from behind away from home. Jordan Pickford gave away an early penalty, yet the goalkeeper underlined how the squad’s determination kept their European target alive, with six league fixtures remaining to chase a continental spot.
"We're disappointed. I don't think we were good enough for the first 20 minutes of both halves," the England goalkeeper said. "We showed resilience and came up with a great finish at the end. We wanted three points today, but we'll take a point in injury time.We dug in, we got a result, and we showed character. The manager's aim in pre-season was to get Everton back into Europe. That's still the aim. We've got six big games to go, and we'll take each one as it comes. Hopefully, we can get the Toffees on a European tour. "
Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, whose stoppage-time goal denied Brentford victory, felt the contest reflected both sides’ strengths. "It was a bit of a rollercoaster game," Dewsbury-Hall added. We knew it would be a tough game. They have strengths that they play to well. Maybe, a draw is a fair result. The fact we came from behind twice shows the mentality of the ladswe never give up, ever. Cliche as it is:if you don't win, try not to lose, and we did that. That could be a massive point at the end of the season.
