SRH Start On A Disastrous Note In Hyderabad
Coming to the match, Sunrisers Hyderabad endured a disastrous start in the first home game of their IPL 2026 against Lucknow Super Giants, collapsing to 22/3 at the end of the powerplay. Mohammed Shami set the tone early, striking in the very first over to dismiss Abhishek Sharma for a duck. He then doubled the blow by removing Travis Head off the very next delivery, leaving SRH rattled.
The pressure continued to mount as Prince Yadav produced
a sharp delivery to knock over Ishan Kishan, sending his off-stump cartwheeled and deepening SRH's early troubles. Shami was exceptional during the power play, conceding just seven runs in his three overs while picking up two crucial wickets.
As Avesh Khan joined the attack to maintain the squeeze, SRH finally found some relief when Liam Livingstone broke the shackles with a towering six off Manimaran Siddharth, offering a much-needed spark after a shaky start.
Lowest Power Play Score For SRH
Sunrisers Hyderabad slumped to one of their lowest powerplay totals in IPL history during their clash against Lucknow Super Giants in IPL 2026, managing just 22/3 in the first six overs at Hyderabad. The shaky start now ranks as the fourth-lowest power play score for Sunrisers Hyderabad in the tournament's history.
Their worst remains 14/3 against Rajasthan Royals in Pune (2022), followed by 20/3 versus Punjab Kings in Sharjah (2021) and 21/3 again against Rajasthan in Hyderabad (2013). The latest collapse places them alongside another recent low-24/4 against the Mumbai Indians in 2025.
The early damage against LSG highlighted ongoing top-order fragility, with SRH failing to capitalize on the powerplay once again. Despite their ability to post big totals in recent matches, this outing exposed how quickly things can unravel, putting added pressure on the middle order to recover from yet another shaky start.
