Harry Wilson struck a stoppage-time free-kick to give Fulham a 2-1 Premier League win over Brighton at Craven Cottage, lifting Marco Silva's side to seventh place and keeping European qualification firmly in sight after Yasin Ayari had earlier put the visitors ahead.
The Wales international decided the match in the 92nd minute with a 25-yard effort that curled beyond the Brighton wall and goalkeeper, turning a tense finish into a decisive result and continuing Wilson's prolific spell in front of goal for Fulham.
Wilson has now produced 11 direct goal contributions in the Premier League since the start of November, with seven goals and four assists, a figure bettered in that period only by Erling Haaland, who has 12, underlining Wilson's status
as Fulham's main attacking influence.
This late winner also strengthened Fulham's push for continental football, as the club targets improvement on last season's record Premier League points tally, while Brighton's search for a first league victory at Craven Cottage continues after six unsuccessful attempts.
Brighton had gone in front through a powerful first-half strike from Yasin Ayari and looked on course for what would have been only a second victory in 10 Premier League matches, but Fabian Hurzeler's team could not close out the contest despite long spells of control.
| Player | Competition | Period from | Goals | Assists | Total involvements |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Harry Wilson | Premier League | Start of November | 7 | 4 | 11 |
| Erling Haaland | Premier League | Start of November | - | - | 12 |
Reflecting on the decisive moment and his recent form, Wilson said: "Every goal you score is great, but from that far out to get all three points is extra special," Wilson said. "I've had a really good run of form from the end of November until now and, as an attacker, you are judged on these numbers. When you are helping the team with goals and assists, it is an amazing feeling. We're all delighted in the dressing room. "
Wilson also looked back at Fulham's progress over the past two seasons, noting how performances have shaped current expectations, and referred to the disappointment that followed the recent 1-0 defeat away to Leeds after a positive sequence of results for Silva's squad. "We went on a good run of form then were really disappointed with the result and performance at Leeds [1-0 defeat last weekend]. Last season, we broke the club-record points total in the Premier League, and that was a testament to ourselves. Before the season started, we would have liked to go one better, so if that gets us into Europe, even better. "

On the opposite side, Hurzeler expressed frustration that Brighton's display did not earn a result, stressing that the performance level remained high throughout the match and that the players executed the tactical plan for long stretches against Fulham's attack. "That's football.Sometimes, football is brutal and the better team loses," Hurzeler said. "We controlled the things we could control. Regarding the performance, it was one of the best we have played. Overall, we defended really good in the game, we controlled the game, but that's footballyou have to understand it. Some people might be worried, but I see the team sticking together. Sometimes, you need luck in football and we need to get that luck back. You can't complain, you have to keep working. "
As Fulham celebrate a dramatic win that reinforces hopes of European qualification and continues Wilson's productive run, Brighton leave Craven Cottage with encouragement from the display but more concern over results, with Hurzeler focused on maintaining unity and waiting for performances to convert into wins.
