India are up against New Zealand on Wednesday (January 28) in the fourth T20I of the 5-match series as they play at the ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium in Vizag.
The Indian team have already sealed the series with an unassailable 3-0 lead and now they will look to extend their winning run to clinch closer to a series white-wash.
India vs New Zealand Team News
As far as the India XI is concerned, Axar Patel is likely to return after spending extended time batting and bowling in the nets on the eve of the match, following a hand injury picked up while fielding in the first T20I. With the workload piling up, India could consider giving Hardik Pandya a break after playing three consecutive games. Arshdeep Singh also had an intense training session and may replace Harshit Rana in the playing XI.
For New Zealand, Daryl Mitchell's impressive form could prompt a reshuffle in the batting order, with the visitors exploring the possibility of promoting him up the order to maximise his impact. Given his past experience as an opener in a T20 World Cup, that option remains on the table, especially considering the performances of Tim Seifert and Devon Conway.
Meanwhile, New Zealand have trimmed their squad, releasing Kristian Clarke and Tim Robinson, while Finn Allen is still yet to join the team. James Neesham has had some time to settle in and could be in the mix for selection. Although Lockie Ferguson pushed himself hard in the nets, his inclusion in the match appears unlikely at this stage.
India vs New Zealand Preview
India, under Suryakumar Yadav's leadership, have dominated the series from the very first game, with strong performances across departments helping them clinch the contest by the third match. With most players contributing at different stages, they will aim to push their advantage further and go 4-0 on Wednesday.
New Zealand, meanwhile, have shown flashes of quality but have struggled to deliver as a cohesive unit, which has hurt them throughout the series. Aware of their potential in T20 cricket, the Mitchell Santner-led side will look to regroup in Vizag and finally produce a complete performance to stay competitive.
