Thai megastar Superbon addressed the media at the post-event press conference after unifying the ONE Featherweight Kickboxing World Title. The victory came after a grueling five-round war against interim
titleholder Masaaki Noiri in the main event of ONE 173 on 16 November.
The 35-year-old reigning champion and Noiri fought tooth-and-nail in an epic battle that showcased the absolute best of kickboxing. Both elite strikers traded their signature shots throughout the fight and neither backed down from the challenge.
Superbon unleashed his devastating high kicks, push kicks, stepped-in knees, and punches throughout the contest. The 32-year-old Noiri retaliated with his own punches and kicks, refusing to surrender in front of his passionate home crowd.
After 15 minutes of warfare, Superbon emerged victorious via unanimous decision to become the undisputed ONE Featherweight Kickboxing World Champion. The Thai legend improved his overall record to an impressive 117-37, adding another historic victory to his legendary career.
The pound-for-pound striking great admitted he wasn't surprised by Noiri's toughness and resilience. Superbon delivered significant damage throughout the fight, but the Japanese challenger stood firm and continued pressing forward despite absorbing devastating strikes.
"I'm not surprised. He looked very tough and he's really tough in the ring. He had it big for me. He took a lot of damage from me and he was still standing there, he never backed [down]," Superbon said.
"I enjoyed the fight, and it was really fun to fight with him. And I love Japanese fans. All the fans supported him, supported me, cheered for him, cheered for me. I love Japanese fans. Thank you so much. "
During the press conference, Armenian legend Marat Grigorian stated his main goal is to fight Superbon in Japan. The Thai champion welcomed the challenge, acknowledging Grigorian as one of his best opponents and expressing enthusiasm about facing him again.
"For me, Marat is one of the best opponents for me, and it's always fun to fight Marat. I'd love to fight with him anytime, anywhere. I won't run away from him," Superbon responded.
