Hola Messi Fan Zone in Kolkata
Nestled in a housing complex close to Salt Lake Stadium, the fan zone kicks off with a stunning replica of Messi's Miami home. A life-size display shows Messi relaxing on the balcony with his wife Antonela Roccuzzo and their three sons- Thiago, Mateo, and Ciro-evoking a personal touch for visitors.
Inside, a dedicated gallery showcases replicas of Messi's glittering trophy haul, including La Liga, Champions League, Copa America, the World Cup, Ballon d'Or, and Golden Boot. The centerpiece? An installation made from 896 footballs, symbolizing Messi's career goals to date.
A massive 200-meter-long LED screen lines the walls, looping iconic highlights from his playing days. Opened on December 9, the zone charges just 10 rupees for all-day access, hosting daily debates, events, and fan gatherings.
The brains behind this labor of love are Uttam Saha and his son Pragyan. Speaking to the media, Pragyan shared their passion.
"We adore him immensely. Messi is a legend, the greatest of all time. We've supported him since 2002. This initiative highlights his achievements on and off the field. It's his second visit to our city, so welcoming him with open arms is our duty," he said to Anandabazar.
As Messi lands in Kolkata-his second trip to the City of Joy-fans hope this fan zone becomes a lasting homage to the eight-time Ballon d'Or winner. With Inter Miami's global tours sparking such fervor, expect sold-out crowds and viral moments from Salt Lake.
