IND vs SA 2nd Test: India will head into Day 2 of the second Test in Guwahati with renewed confidence after a spirited fightback led by Kuldeep Yadav in the final session on Saturday.
South Africa, who
looked well-set earlier in the day, slipped to 247/6 at stumps, leaving the match finely poised as both sides prepare for a crucial morning session.
Kuldeep Yadav's impressive 3/48 swung the momentum India's way. The left-arm wrist-spinner produced a decisive spell, removing Tristan Stubbs for a well-made 49 and then accounting for Wiaan Mulder for 13. His late strikes ensured South Africa couldn't fully capitalise on their promising platform.
Earlier, Ravindra Jadeja triggered the slide with the dismissal of captain Temba Bavuma, who was caught at mid-off by Yashasvi Jaiswal. Mohammed Siraj also chipped in by dismissing Tony de Zorzi for 28, further tightening India's grip on the proceedings.
South Africa will resume the innings with Senuran Muthusamy unbeaten on 25, joined by Kyle Verreynne, who walked in just before stumps. With only four wickets left, the visitors will rely heavily on this pair to push the total closer to the 300-plus mark, which could give their bowlers something substantial to work with.
