Rakhi, fighting in the 48kg division, set the tone. She beat her Sri Lankan rival by RSC in Round 1. Ovi, at 50kg, then defeated her opponent from Iran by a clear 5-0 verdict. Mamta, in the 52kg class, matched that score against Thailand.
Lakshmi, competing at 54kg, kept the run going. She controlled her bout against Korea and secured another 5-0 decision. Navya, boxing in the 57kg category, completed a flawless day for the girls. She stopped her Vietnamese opponent by RSC in the opening
round.
Boys record mixed opening results
In the boys' section, Neela Narendra Kumar, at 46kg, produced a strong display. He won by first-round RSC against Saudi Arabia's Khalid Alhossah. At 48kg, however, Daksh Pawar lost 0-5 on points to Tajikistan's Firuzjon Boymatov after a difficult contest.
The early results have given India a strong launchpad in Tashkent. With more bouts scheduled over the next few days, the team will aim to maintain form. Coaches will look to build on the girls' perfect start and the boys' early win.
