Thomas Frank is eagerly anticipating his first North London derby as Tottenham's manager. His team faces Arsenal on Sunday at the Emirates Stadium. Arsenal currently leads the Premier League by four points
after a strong start to the 2025-26 season. Meanwhile, Tottenham trails by eight points, having had a mixed beginning under Frank's leadership.
Despite their inconsistent form, Tottenham has excelled in away matches this season. They remain unbeaten on the road in the Premier League with four wins and one draw. Spurs have accumulated 13 points, scored 12 goals, and conceded only three away from home. They aim to disrupt Arsenal's momentum this weekend.
The history of this fixture heavily favours Arsenal. The Gunners have lost just once in their last 32 home league games against Spurs, a 3-2 defeat in November 2010. In recent encounters, Spurs have suffered seven defeats in their last nine league meetings with Arsenal, winning only once and drawing once.
Arsenal has won five of their last six league games against Tottenham, including the last three consecutively. This marks their longest winning streak against Spurs since a five-game run between January 1987 and January 1989. Frank hopes to change this trend.
Frank acknowledges that both he and Mikel Arteta might prefer more controlled gameplay. However, he anticipates an unpredictable match on Sunday. "The interesting thing is that probably both Mikel and I would like a little bit more of a controlled game, but it will probably end up absolutely madhouse," Frank said.

Frank's record against Arsenal hasn't been favourable since his initial victory over them in August 2021. He has not won any of the subsequent seven matches against them, drawing two and losing five. Despite this, he believes his team can challenge Arsenal at home.
Recent Performances
Tottenham recently drew 2-2 with Manchester United, thanks to Matthijs de Ligt's equaliser in the 96th minute. Mathys Tel and Richarlison scored two quick goals late in the second half to level Bryan Mbeumo's early opener for United.
This performance was reminiscent of Ange Postecoglou's tenure at Tottenham. Frank is open to employing similar tactics against Arsenal this time around. "Definitely embrace controlled chaos," Frank added.
"Chaos can be transitions, high-pressure and set-piece second phases," he explained further about his tactical approach. "We will never go for a 0-0. we will always try to win. " This mindset reflects his determination to secure a positive result against their rivals.
