Arne Slot expressed uncertainty about Mohamed Salah's future at Liverpool after the player's recent outburst. Salah, who was benched for three consecutive games, voiced his frustration following Liverpool's 3-3 draw with Leeds United. The Egyptian forward claimed he felt unsupported by the club during their challenging period and mentioned having no relationship with Slot.
Liverpool confirmed Salah's absence from the squad travelling to face Inter Milan in the Champions League. This decision has raised questions about his availability for the upcoming Premier League match against Brighton, especially as Salah is set to join Egypt for the Africa Cup of Nations soon.
Since joining Liverpool in 2017, Salah has been instrumental, scoring 250 goals
and providing 113 assists in 420 appearances. Despite his significant contributions, Slot admitted he couldn't predict if Salah had played his last game for the club. "I have no clue. I cannot answer that question at this moment in time," Slot stated when asked about Salah's future.
The absence of Federico Chiesa due to illness and Cody Gakpo's injury further complicates Liverpool's forward options. Slot mentioned he would reassess Salah's situation before deciding on his participation against Brighton. "We are sitting here in the evening before a big game for us," Slot said, focusing on preparing his team for the match against Inter Milan.
Despite Salah's comments, Slot maintained that his authority remained intact. "I don't feel that my authority has been undermined," he remarked. He emphasised that the team's well-being was more important than personal feelings, stating, "It's if it is more difficult for the team and for the club. "

Salah has struggled this season with only five goals and three assists compared to his impressive 57 goal involvements last season. Despite this dip in form, he remains a key figure within Liverpool's squad.
Communication Between Slot and Salah
Slot acknowledged conversations with Salah regarding his exclusion from recent matches but noted they were not always agreeable. "Yes, we were [on speaking terms], but it doesn't mean we were always agreeing on things," Slot explained. He mentioned having two discussions with Salah before the Leeds match but chose not to disclose details.
Slot remains hopeful about player returns despite current challenges. "I'm a firm believer that there is always a possibility to return for a player," he said, indicating potential reconciliation with Salah.
