New Zealand produced a dominant performance to defeat England by 253 runs in the second Test at The Oval on Sunday, levelling the three-match series at 1-1.

Set an improbable target of 463, England resumed the final day on 182 for 5 but collapsed spectacularly in just 48 minutes. They lost their last five wickets for only 27 runs, slumping to 209 all out. Joe Root top-scored with an unbeaten 75, but received little support as the rest of the batting order failed to cope with New Zealand's pace attack.

Matt Henry was the star of the match, claiming career-best figures of 11 for 109. He ripped through England's lower order with 6 for 29 in the second innings, registering the best match haul by a New Zealander against England in England.

bowlers maintained relentless pressure throughout, while their batting in the first two innings had set up a commanding position. The victory was built on disciplined bowling and sharp fielding that exposed England's fragility once again in Test cricket.
