Chennai Super Kings produced a commanding performance to thrash Mumbai Indians by 103 runs in the high-voltage IPL clash at Wankhede Stadium. MI won the toss and elected to field first, but the decision backfired as CSK posted a formidable 207/6 in 20 overs.
Sanju Samson stole the show with a sensational unbeaten 101 off 54 balls (10 fours, 6 sixes). Opening the innings, the Kerala wicketkeeper-batter played with sublime timing and power, mixing elegant drives with aggressive six-hitting. He carried his bat through the innings, completing his century on the final ball and powering CSK past 200. Ruturaj Gaikwad (22) and Sarfaraz Khan provided a quick start, while Dewald Brevis and others contributed handy cameos in the middle order.
MI's bowling
attack struggled on a pitch that offered early pace and later grip. Spinners and pacers alike were punished as CSK maintained a strong run rate throughout.
In reply, MI never got going and were skittled out for a paltry 104 in 19 overs. The chase faltered early against CSK's varied bowling attack, with spinners exploiting the conditions effectively. Suryakumar Yadav and Tilak Varma offered the only notable resistance, but regular wickets prevented any momentum.
