Wrexham produced a dramatic Boxing Day comeback, overturning a 3-1 deficit to defeat Sheffield United 5-3 at SToK Cae Ras, with Kieffer Moore scoring twice against a former club as Phil Parkinson's team halted a five-match winless Championship run in front of home supporters.
The hosts again showed strong resilience, as Wrexham have now claimed 12 Championship points after falling behind this season, a total bettered only by Coventry City with 13 and Watford with 23, underlining how often Parkinson's side respond when under pressure.
United struck first on seven minutes when Femi Seriki delivered from the right and Patrick Bamford met the cross with a deft flick into the far corner, but Wrexham responded almost immediately as George Tomason's
deep ball was headed back across goal by Josh Windass and deflected off Tyler Bindon into the defender's own net.
Chris Wilder's side restored control before the half-hour as another Seriki cross from the flank was converted by Bamford for a second time, then Callum O'Hare pushed United 3-1 ahead when a long throw bounced off Moore and fell kindly, allowing O'Hare to finish from close range.
Moore quickly repaired that error on 28 minutes, meeting Tomason's corner with a firm header that beat Michael Cooper, then seven minutes after half-time Tomason supplied again from the left, with Ryan Longman rising to guide another header inside the far post and level the contest at 3-3.
The turnaround was completed on 76 minutes when substitute Nathan Broadhead linked with Wales team-mate Moore, sliding a pass through for Moore to lift the ball over Cooper and into the roof of the net, before Windass made it 5-3 from the penalty spot nine minutes from time after Bindon tripped Tomason inside the area.
The result continued a powerful home trend for Wrexham against Sheffield United, as Parkinson's team have now won all three league meetings between the clubs at SToK Cae Ras, scoring at least four goals in every match, while also extending an impressive habit of late scoring in the current league campaign.
