Fabian Hurzeler plays down talk of a move to Bayer Leverkusen and stresses full commitment to Brighton. The 33-year-old head coach states the current focus is Brighton’s campaign, as the club aim to improve on last season’s eighth place from a current position of 10th.
German reports this week claim Leverkusen are studying a 15m release clause in Hurzeler’s Brighton contract. Interest is reported despite Hurzeler having time left on the current deal and having spoken often about the positive environment at the American Express Stadium and support from Brighton’s hierarchy.
Asked by Sky Sports about links with the Bundesliga side, Hurzeler responded with a firm message. Hurzeler said: "It's always an honour to be linked with these kinds of rumours,
but I'm really happy here at Brighton. I'm very thankful for the trust and support the club gives me.
Hurzeler continued with a clear statement on priorities for the rest of the campaign. Hurzeler added: "We are focused on a strong finish to the season. I'm definitely totally committed. There are no other thoughts. In football, there is not always this loyalty and support from a club. I really feel trusted and welcomed here.
Hurzeler finished by outlining why Brighton suits current ambitions and style. Hurzeler said: "I can express myself and be successful here. There are so many things to play for until the end of the season. That's my only focus. "

Bayer Leverkusen only turned to Kasper Hjulmand in September, after Erik ten Hag lasted two months. Results have not met targets, with Leverkusen currently outside the Bundesliga Champions League places, so speculation has grown that the club may review the coaching situation again when this season ends.
Hurzeler’s coaching record at Brighton strengthens external interest, especially from clubs such as Leverkusen. Hurzeler has 27 wins from 69 Premier League matches. Only Graham Potter has more Brighton victories in the competition, with 34 from 120 games. Hurzeler’s current win percentage is higher than any other Brighton manager in this league.
Brighton’s attacking output also compares well with other eras under different coaches. The team average 1.6 goals per Premier League game under Hurzeler. The only higher figure for Brighton in this competition is the 1.7 goals per match recorded under current Tottenham head coach Roberto De Zerbi during the previous spell.
With Brighton still chasing a higher league finish and European hopes, Hurzeler’s statements underline short-term priorities. The Seagulls continue to compete in the Premier League mid-table, while speculation around Leverkusen offers a backdrop. For now, Hurzeler’s own words place Brighton and the remaining fixtures at the centre of attention.
