Kolkata Knight Riders have suffered a big blow in the IPL 2026 match against Kolkata Knight Riders, as young Angkrish Raghuvanshi went off the field.
KKR are bowling first after winning the toss, and the rain-marred encounter is heavily tilted in their favour as MI are 95/6 in the 16th over. Despite that, KKR will be gutted as Raghuvanshi has suffered an injury.
What happened to Angkrish Raghuvanshi?
Angkrish Raghuvanshi suffered a hand injury while keeping wickets in the KKR versus MI IPL 2026 match at Eden Gardens on May 20. During a dropped skier off Tilak Varma, he charged in and collided with Varun Chakravarthy. He may have been hit by the ball or spiked in the process. Raghuvanshi left the field for treatment soon after, forcing a substitution in this must-win game for KKR as
they chase playoff qualification.
Tejasvi Singh Dahiya, a 24-year-old wicketkeeper-batter from Delhi born on April 18, 2002, replaced him behind the stumps as a substitute keeper. KKR signed him for 3 crore rupees in the 2026 auction. Known for explosive middle-order batting and sharp glove work, he impressed with a century on List A debut and strong performances in domestic T20s. His hard-hitting style, similar to Ashutosh Sharma, adds depth and flexibility to the squad amid KKR's injury concerns.
Will Angkrish Raghuvanshi bat for KKR?
Raghuvanshi's injury extent remains an enigma for now. The youngster seemed to have a swollen finger, but its not confirmed if he has dislocated it. The Mumbai batter has been a key part of Kolkata batting, scoring the most runs for them in the IPL 2026 season.
And as per the latest update, Angkrish Raghuvanshi will not bat for the Knight Riders. He has been subbed out as he was off due to a concussion, and Ramandeep Singh has replaced him as KKR chase 148 runs.
