Luciano Spalletti has called on Juventus to improve their performance if they want to achieve their Serie A goals. After a 1-1 draw with Fiorentina, Spalletti expressed his disappointment with the team's
predictable play. The match at Stadio Artemio Franchi saw moments of brilliance from Filip Kostic and Rolando Mandragora, but Juventus failed to secure a win.
Juventus took the lead when Manuel Locatelli's blocked shot landed at Kostic's feet. He scored from 25 yards out into the bottom-left corner. However, Fiorentina equalised shortly after halftime with Mandragora's powerful shot past Michele Di Gregorio. Neither team managed to find a winner in the remaining time.
The draw left Juventus sixth in Serie A, five points behind leaders Napoli. Despite creating an expected goals (xG) tally of 1.4 from 17 shots, only four were on target. Spalletti wants more from his players, stating, "We were too predictable in the first half and made too many technical mistakes. " He emphasised that their level must be higher.
Spalletti acknowledged the challenge posed by Fiorentina's energy and aggression under coach Vanoli. He stated, "It was a difficult match against a side eager to react. " Despite this, he believes Juventus must elevate their game significantly.

Since taking over from Igor Tudor, Spalletti has had a challenging start at Juventus. With only one win in four matches across all competitions, he is only the second manager since 1929-30 to draw three of his first four games with Juventus. Sandro Puppo achieved this in 1995.
Despite these setbacks, Spalletti remains hopeful about leading Juventus to their 37th Serie A title this season. He previously won the Scudetto with Napoli in the 2022-23 season and believes he can replicate that success with Juventus.
Serie A Title Aspirations
The Opta supercomputer gives Juventus just a 1.9% chance of finishing top of the table. Bologna (4.5%), AC Milan (9.9%), Roma (13.2%), Napoli (13.6%), and Inter (56.1%) have better odds according to these predictions.
Spalletti insists that aiming for the Scudetto should be their ambition but acknowledges they are not there yet. "As I've said, we must have the Scudetto fight as our ambition," he stated. He believes they can perform better than they did against Fiorentina.
The atmosphere in the dressing room reflected dissatisfaction among players after the match, which Spalletti sees as a positive sign of their commitment to improvement.
