The ongoing friction between Multan Sultans and the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) escalated further on Wednesday after franchise owner Ali Khan Tareen publicly accused the PSL management of shutting the team
out of the league's valuation and renewal cycle.
Taking to X, Tareen expressed frustration over what he described as complete silence from the board despite multiple attempts to open communication.
According to Tareen, the Sultans have been left waiting while other franchises have already been issued their valuation and renewal letters. "Over the past month we have sent multiple emails to the PSL management, asking for our valuation and renewal letter (which every other team has already received).
But there has been no response," he wrote, adding that the lack of engagement extended across all official avenues. "No response to our legal letter, no response to our emails, no response to my letter to the Chairman," he noted, calling the situation unwarranted.
Tareen went on to say that the silence isn't just affecting Multan. He claimed that representatives from other franchises have begun questioning why the Sultans are being kept out of discussions.
"Even other franchise reps have asked why Multan is not being included in the valuation and renewal process. No response," he stated.
Addressing why the matter has now surfaced publicly, Tareen said the team had no alternative. "For those asking why this is not being handled behind closed doors, it is simply because the PSL Management refuse to engage with us," he explained.
He also hinted at possible escalation if the standoff continues. "If this ghosting continues we will have no choice but to take legal action. Which is the absolute last thing we want to do," he said, making it clear that the impasse could have been resolved informally under different circumstances. "This entire situation is so unnecessary and could have easily been solved over tea and biscuits. But fragile egos make simple things difficult," he remarked.
The latest statement marks a shift from Tareen's earlier, more conciliatory tone when he spoke of seeking a "fresh relationship" with the PCB after a previous legal dispute. With both sides holding firm and the PSL moving toward a crucial operational phase, the deadlock leaves the franchise's future participation hanging in uncertainty.
