Rangers secured a 2-1 win against Livingston in the Scottish Premiership, marking their fourth consecutive league victory under Danny Rohl. Despite the win, Rohl acknowledged areas needing improvement.
Mohamed Diomande's decisive goal in the 78th minute was initially ruled offside but was allowed after a VAR review. Emmanuel Fernandez had earlier put Rangers ahead, with Tete Yengi equalising for Livingston shortly after.
Livingston's manager, David Martindale, expressed dissatisfaction with the officiating. He believed his team deserved a penalty when Yengi's shot hit Fernandez's arm, but the appeal was dismissed. Martindale also contested Diomande's winning goal, arguing it should have been disallowed due to a foul on goalkeeper Jerome Prior during its buildup.
Rohl made strategic changes at halftime that helped Rangers secure the win, despite their expected goals (xG) being lower than Livingston's. Rangers had an xG of 1.38 from nine attempts, while Livingston recorded 1.52 from the same number of shots. Rohl emphasised the importance of hard work and concentration in achieving this result.
"It was a hard-work performance and a hard-work victory," Rohl told BBC Scotland. "After the goal, we start to not concentrate enough, and the opponents go behind with a long ball—it was too easy. " He added that they made small adjustments at halftime and stressed to players the need for more effort and movement without the ball.
Livingston remains at the bottom of the table after extending their winless streak to 11 matches. They have only one victory in 13 league games this season (D5 L7), marking their poorest start since 2005-06 when they failed to win any matches at this stage of the competition.
Martindale voiced his frustration over what he saw as inconsistent use of technology in officiating decisions. "I don't know where to go with the handball decision," he said. "It hits his arm; it's going on target; could be a goal. " He insisted that if such an incident occurred against Livingston, it would have resulted in a penalty.

The victory leaves Rangers nine points behind league leaders Hearts. Rohl remains focused on continuous improvement as they prepare for future matches. "We will analyse the game as always and then go again," he stated confidently.
