Kon Knueppel’s late free throws, Tyrese Maxey’s winning drive and a 3-point barrage from Minnesota headline a dramatic NBA night, as the Charlotte Hornets, Philadelphia 76ers and Minnesota Timberwolves each completed narrow or statement wins built on career-best or season-high performances.
The Hornets edged the Dallas Mavericks 123-121, the 76ers slipped past the Sacramento Kings 113-111, and the Timberwolves defeated the Oklahoma City Thunder 123-111, with Cooper Flagg setting an NBA scoring record for a teenager despite Dallas falling short.
| Game | Score | Top Scorer | Points |
|---|---|---|---|
| Hornets vs Mavericks | 123-121 | Cooper Flagg | 49 |
| 76ers vs Kings | 113-111 | Tyrese Maxey | 40 |
| Timberwolves vs Thunder | 123-111 | Anthony Edwards | 26 |
Tyrese Maxey produced 40 points for Philadelphia and decided the contest with a left-handed layup with 1.3 seconds remaining, while Joel Embiid added 37 points as the 76ers overturned an 11-point fourth-quarter
deficit to defeat Sacramento, handing the Kings a seventh straight loss.
Sacramento seemed in control after a 38-28 third quarter, which built a 92-88 lead entering the final period, then Zach LaVine’s three-point play with 7:44 left stretched the advantage to 103-92 before Philadelphia responded with a decisive surge.
During the comeback, the 76ers scored 13 of 15 points to level the game at 105, with Maxey tying it from the line, and after DeMar DeRozan missed a 14-footer that could have restored the Kings’ lead, Embiid collected the rebound with 5.2 seconds remaining and Philadelphia called timeout.
On the second inbounds attempt, Kelly Oubre Jr. found Embiid at the top of the arc, Maxey sprinted from half-court to receive a handoff and drove for the winning basket while drawing a foul from Precious Achiuwa, as Paul George’s 15 points supported Philadelphia, and Dennis Schroder’s 27 plus DeRozan’s 25 led Sacramento’s offence.

In Charlotte, Kon Knueppel scored a career-high 34 points and secured the 123-121 win by sinking two free throws with 4.1 seconds left, overshadowing Duke roommate Cooper Flagg’s 49-point performance for Dallas that established a new NBA single-game scoring record for a teenager.
Flagg, who turned 19 in December, surpassed Cliff Robinson’s previous teen mark of 45 points, set for New Jersey against Detroit on March 9, 1980, finishing with 20 field goals on 29 attempts plus 10 rebounds, yet missed a potential game-tying shot at the buzzer that struck the back of the rim.
Knueppel’s decisive trip to the line followed a key defensive moment when Knueppel intercepted an errant Flagg pass near midcourt with seven seconds remaining and the score level, drove toward the rim and drew a foul from Flagg as the ball became wedged between the backboard and the hoop, before calmly converting both attempts.
The rookie also hit eight 3-pointers, the most by a first-year player in Hornets history, as Charlotte extended a winning streak to five games, their longest run since February 2023, while Brandon Miller contributed 23 points for a ninth consecutive 20-plus outing and LaMelo added 22 points, including six 3-pointers.

NBA results: Timberwolves down Thunder with 22 3-pointers
Anthony Edwards posted 26 points and the Minnesota Timberwolves matched their season high by hitting 22 3-pointers in a 123-111 victory over the Oklahoma City Thunder, handing Oklahoma City a third defeat across four games while extending Minnesota’s current winning streak to three after a previous five-game slide.
Jaden McDaniels delivered 21 points and was perfect from long range, making all five 3-point attempts, Naz Reid came off the bench for 18 points with four triples, and the Timberwolves’ outside shooting display equalled the second-most 3-pointers conceded by the Thunder this season.
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander led Oklahoma City with 30 points, Chet Holmgren added 15, and centre Isaiah Hartenstein contributed 11 points in a return from a calf problem that sidelined Hartenstein for 16 games, but the Thunder could not keep pace with Minnesota’s perimeter efficiency.

The results left Charlotte building momentum with a rare extended winning run, Philadelphia showing late-game resilience behind Maxey and Embiid, and Minnesota rediscovering form through heavy 3-point shooting, while Flagg’s record night, the Kings’ slump and Hartenstein’s return added further storylines across a busy NBA schedule.
