The Los Angeles Lakers closed the first half of the NBA regular season with a 110-93 victory over the Toronto Raptors, moving to a 25-16 record and sixth place in the Western Conference. Deandre Ayton delivered a flawless shooting display on return from a knee issue, while Luka Doncic matched Ayton’s scoring and directed the offence.
Los Angeles entered the game after two straight defeats, so the result offered needed stability before a demanding schedule. The team is now preparing for an eight-game road trip, with players and staff viewing this stretch as a key test of their current form and chemistry.
Ayton finished with 25 points, 13 rebounds and no turnovers, converting all 10 field-goal attempts. That line made Ayton the first player in Lakers
history, since detailed records began in 1977-78, to post at least 25 points on 100% shooting with zero turnovers in a single game.
The centre also joined an exclusive Los Angeles list for efficiency on high volume. Ayton became only the third Laker to hit at least 10 field goals without a miss while also collecting 10 or more rebounds, matching feats by Wilt Chamberlain in March 1969 and Mitch Kupchak in November 1981.
That's pretty cool, said Ayton. I definitely give it up to my team-mates. They find me in the easiest spots ever, and I got some easy ones, for sure. That's a thing I never even thought I would be a part of. I'm definitely honoured and appreciative, but I love this game, so hopefully I get more of those.
Doncic shared top scoring honours with 25 points and added seven assists, while also returning from groin soreness. Doncic hit five shots from beyond the arc and helped control the pace, but stressed that the 25-16 record still leaves space for progress as the long trip approaches.
"Well, it's not a bad record," Doncic said. "Obviously, it could be better, but sometimes we play like this, and we played against Atlanta [Hawks, in a 141-116 win on Tuesday]. It gives us a better chance to win. So just got to look at those two games and play like that. "

Ayton’s perfect shooting night, combined with Doncic’s perimeter threat, gave the Lakers a reliable inside-outside balance against Toronto. The performance eased concerns after recent defeats and underlined how efficient execution, low turnovers and high-percentage shots could be crucial for Los Angeles during the challenging eight-game road sequence.
