AC Milan have announced that Alexis Saelemaekers has extended his contract, securing his stay with the club until 2031. Previously, his contract was set to end after this season. However, following an impressive
start to the 2025-26 season, he has committed to a long-term future with the Rossoneri.
The Belgian player has been instrumental in Milan's recent successes, including their Serie A title win in 2022. This season, he has started all 15 league matches under head coach Massimiliano Allegri's second tenure. Only Luka Modric and Matteo Gabbia have clocked more minutes than Saelemaekers' 1,307 in Serie A for Milan this campaign.
Saelemaekers has contributed significantly with two goals and two assists so far. His performance is only surpassed by Christian Pulisic and Rafael Leao in terms of total goal involvements for Milan this season. Pulisic has seven goals and two assists, while Leao has five goals and one assist.
In terms of creating opportunities, Saelemaekers ranks second within the squad for chances created in Serie A. He has crafted 19 chances, trailing only behind Luka Modric's 26. These contributions highlight his importance to the team's attacking dynamics.
Currently, AC Milan are positioned second in the Serie A standings after 15 games. They trail leaders Inter by just one point. Their recent match ended in a 2-2 draw against Sassuolo at home, causing them to drop two points.
The team is gearing up for a crucial semi-final clash against Napoli in the Supercoppa Italiana on Thursday. Following this, they will face Verona on December 28 for their final game of the year.
