New Delhi, June 1: Former Danish Shuttler Mathias Boe has revealed on his social media that he has resumed working with the World No. 4 duo of Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty. The former Danish shuttler on the left revealed that his role in this partnership will not be that of a coach but will be limited to a consultant and advisor.
Boe's return to the Indian badminton circuit with the duo comes after the 'brothers of destruction' continue to rise as one of the most dominant men's doubles pairs on the global circuit.
"Since I now have a bit more time on my hands, pre-Thomas Cup I have secretly started working with Satwik and Chirag again. This time as a consultant and sparring for Kim Her Tan, where my focus is going to be on the tactical
aspects and match analyses, while coach Tan will stay full-time with them," Boe wrote on his Instagram profile.
Mathias Boe's Previous Stint With Satwik-Chirag
Boe had previously played a pivotal role with Satwik-Chirag in shaping the Indian duo's rise during his earlier coaching stint. This included their breakthrough performances at major international events. His first phase with Indian badminton saw Satwik-Chirag win a bronze at the 2022 World Championships and gold at the Commonwealth Games the same year, followed by Asian Games gold and Asian Championships success in 2023. Under his guidance, the pair also reached the world No. 1 ranking and claimed multiple BWF World Tour titles, including the prestigious Indonesia Open Super 1000.
The Danish coach had stepped into the shadows from active badminton post the Paris Olympics 2024, taking a sabbatical from the game. Subsequently, he returned in a revised capacity once again. Boe also revealed that he will be present on the sidelines during major upcoming tournaments, including the Asian Games 2026 in Japan, where he is expected to work alongside coach Tan Kim Her to fine-tune the pair's tactical approach.
