Fabricio "Wonder Boy" Andrade defends his ONE Bantamweight MMA World Championship against #4-ranked Enkh-Orgil Baatarkhuu on Friday, 5 December, broadcasting live in U.S. primetime from Bangkok's Lumpinee
Stadium at ONE Fight Night 38 on Prime Video.
The Brazilian champion enters riding momentum from his 42-second annihilation of "Pretty Boy" Kwon Won Il at ONE 170 this past January. That demolition showcased the striking that defines his reign.
Baatarkhuu presents something entirely different. The Mongolian brings suffocating wrestling that's overwhelmed every opponent, forcing Andrade to redesign his entire training camp around neutralising takedowns whilst maintaining offensive striking superiority.
"My training camp this time is a little different. I prepared a specific plan to defend what he does," Andrade said. "He doesn't change his style too much from fight to fight. "
The 28-year-old Tiger Muay Thai affiliate studied Baatarkhuu's patterns extensively. His strategy centres on defensive wrestling whilst forcing striking exchanges where his speed and power advantages become overwhelming and decisive.
"My whole training camp was to defend what he does whilst making him fight my fight," Andrade said. "We just did specific work to focus on his style. "
The champion understands elite grapplers demand different preparation. Technical wrestling, positional awareness, and exceptional cardio become mandatory when facing someone determined to drag fights into extended grappling exchanges across five potential rounds.
This challenge excites him most greatly. Baatarkhuu will force Andrade to showcase grappling dimensions previous opponents never tested, expanding his championship legacy beyond devastating knockouts into complete martial arts mastery.
"In Enkh, I get a new challenge, a different style," Andrade said. "So I'm excited to show how good I am in different areas. I can do it all. "
"This time, I'm going to show how good my grappling is because I've got a guy who's gonna try to wrestle me," Andrade said.
Regardless of how this explosive fight unfolds, Andrade envisions another early finish on that night. Five of his seven ONE Championship victories came via stoppage, establishing his reputation for spectacular finishes.
"I'm gonna finish the fight. I don't want to pick a round because I want to enjoy the fight," Andrade said.
"But, definitely, the belt is gonna stay with me. He dominated Pacatiw. But I wasn't impressed. It was boring. He's a grappler. He grapples you, tries to make you tired. But I think he's strong. He's little, short, but strong. "
This defence validates Andrade's complete mixed martial arts skill set. Beating strikers like Kwon twice proved his stand-up dominance again and again. Overcoming Baatarkhuu's grappling proves championship credentials extend across all disciplines.
"This defence is important because of his different style," Andrade said. "For me to defend my belt against him now, it's going to show I'm on a different level. "
