Chelsea Women secured a decisive 3-0 victory against Brighton in the Women's Super League at Broadfield Stadium. This win marked a return to form after their previous unbeaten streak of 34 matches was
halted by Everton. In their final match of 2025, Chelsea showcased dominance, especially in the first half, with Keira Walsh hitting the post before Sandy Baltimore scored just before halftime.
Despite Sophie Baggaley's efforts in goal for Brighton, stopping both Baltimore and Alyssa Thompson earlier, Baltimore managed to score by curling a shot into the top-right corner. Shortly after halftime, Sam Kerr's pressure led Caitlin Hayes to inadvertently head Erin Cuthbert's delivery into her own net while trying to fend off Kerr.
Sam Kerr and Weike Kaptein continued to challenge Baggaley, but it was Alyssa Thompson who sealed the win by converting Kerr's low cross from close range. Chelsea had further opportunities to increase their lead but couldn't find the net again. Nevertheless, this victory allowed them to overtake Arsenal and move into second place, trailing Manchester City by six points.
The Blues' performance was commanding as they doubled Brighton's shots (16 to eight) and attempts on target (eight to four). Despite this dominance, they could have scored more if not for Baggaley's six crucial saves. Chelsea remains unbeaten in their last nine WSL encounters with Brighton, winning seven and drawing two since February 2021.
