Syndrela Das, a standout prodigy in table tennis over the past year, received her well-deserved recognition at Tuesday's Ultimate Table Tennis auction.
The UTT Season 7 auction took place as seven teams bid to form their squad ahead of the season, which starts in Goa from July 9.
Syndrela Das becomes Most Expensive among Teenagers
Bengal's Syndrela Das, who has been rising in leaps and bounds, was roped in by Dempo Goa Challengers for a whopping price of Rs 17 lakh on the day, the highest among all U19 players.
The youngster has risen to prominence in the last couple of years. She won the Mixed Doubles title at the WTT Feeder Vadodara and won the Youth Contender in Doha this year. She also clinched the Women's Singles U17 title in Vadodara.
Currently ranked 152, Syndrela's immense potential has already
made her place in the senior India side for the ongoing World Table Tennis Championships in London. India is being led by Manav Thakkar and Manika Batra in the competition.

Syndrela is part of a strong women's contingent, which consists of Diya Chitale, Yashaswini Ghorpade and Sutirtha Mukherjee along with Manika as captain.
Syndrela's Mom Happy with Daughter's UTT Deal
After Syndrela's recent UTT acquisition, MyKhel caught up with Syndrela's mother, who has been a pillar of support in her journey.
"This UTT will provide her with a different kind of experience, and we are truly very happy about it," Sydrela's mother said.
The 16-year-old has been efficient in her studies and continues to balance both sport and academics expertly. And the new UTT deal is another big moment. Her team Dempo Goa Challengers also bought Belgian paddler Bernadette Szocs for Rs 40 lakh, who was the most expensive player in the auction.
