Brentford secured a 3-1 victory over Burnley at the Gtech Community Stadium, with all goals coming in a dramatic 11-minute spell. Igor Thiago, who missed a crucial penalty against Brighton last week, was
pivotal in the thrilling end to Saturday's Premier League game. After a quiet first half, Thiago thought he had scored five minutes into the second half, but his goal was ruled offside.
Thiago eventually broke the deadlock in the 81st minute, setting off an exciting finale. Mikkel Damsgaard played Dango Ouattara through, and Axel Tuanzebe fouled him in the box. Thiago stepped up to calmly convert the penalty. Just four minutes later, Burnley earned their own penalty when Jaidon Anthony was fouled, and Zian Flemming equalised by slotting into the bottom-right corner.
Brentford have now won three consecutive Premier League home games for the first time since December 2024. They scored three goals in each of these matches, temporarily moving them up to eighth place in the table. Their expected goals (xG) total of 2.75 from 14 shots highlighted their attacking prowess compared to Burnley's 0.94 from six attempts.
Thiago quickly restored Brentford's lead just 72 seconds after Burnley's equaliser. Jordan Henderson delivered a dangerous cross that Burnley failed to clear, allowing Thiago to score from close range. The victory was sealed in stoppage time when Ouattara evaded Maxime Esteve's challenge and finished past Martin Dubravka.

Only Manchester City's Erling Haaland has scored more than Thiago this season. Brentford's striker closed the gap at the top of the Premier League scoring charts with his third double of the 2025-26 season. Thiago netted his 10th and 11th league goals this season, reaching double figures faster than any Brentford player before him.
Despite a challenging first half, Brentford found their rhythm and deserved their win. Their xG of just 0.52 in the opening half improved significantly as they ended with an xG of 2.75 from their total shots.
The match highlighted Brentford's strong home form and Thiago's impressive scoring ability this season. With his current form, expectations are high for him to continue adding to his goal tally as the season progresses.
