Paris Saint-Germain have confirmed Ousmane Dembele is undergoing treatment for a right calf problem, with the Champions League final against Arsenal on May 30 approaching. Dembele was substituted as a precaution during PSG’s 2-1 Ligue 1 defeat to Paris FC, leaving doubts over availability for the Puskas Arena showpiece in Budapest.
The substitution came 27 minutes into PSG’s final league game of the season, with concerns growing because Luis Enrique did not provide any post-match update on the Ballon d’Or winner. PSG are attempting to retain the Champions League title and become the first team other than Real Madrid to defend the trophy since the 1992 rebrand.
Medical confirmation followed on Monday, when the club issued a formal report on Dembele’s
condition. The statement read: "Having been taken off as a precaution after experiencing some discomfort in his right calf against Paris FC yesterday evening, Ousmane Dembele will remain on the treatment table over the next few days. " PSG have not yet indicated when Dembele is expected to rejoin full training.
Dembele has still been central for PSG this season despite fitness issues. The forward has appeared in 39 matches across all competitions, coming off the bench in 15 of those. Dembele has scored 19 goals and delivered 11 assists, giving 30 goal contributions, the highest total in the squad and one more than Khvicha Kvaratskhelia’s 29.
The previous campaign underlined Dembele’s influence during PSG’s treble success. In 2024-25, Dembele played a key role as PSG secured Ligue 1, the Coupe de France and the Champions League, finishing with 33 goals and 13 assists in all competitions. That output helped establish Dembele among the leading attacking players in European club football.
Dembele also produced a standout display in the 2024-25 Champions League final, a 5-0 victory over Inter. Dembele became the first player to register two assists in the final since Marcelo achieved the same feat for Real Madrid in 2018. Across that campaign, Dembele recorded 14 goal involvements, with eight goals and six assists.
Those 14 contributions were the second-highest by a French player in a single Champions League season. Only Karim Benzema has managed more, with 17 goal involvements for Real Madrid in 2021-22. PSG now await further assessments, knowing Dembele’s status could strongly affect preparations for the meeting with Arsenal in Budapest.

With the Champions League final approaching, PSG must balance caution and preparation around Dembele’s rehabilitation. The club’s medical team will monitor the calf problem over the coming days, while coaching staff consider alternatives. Dembele’s record across the last two seasons underlines why PSG will hope for positive news before facing Arsenal.
