Lando Norris had a flawless weekend in Sao Paulo, winning the Brazilian Grand Prix and increasing his championship lead over Oscar Piastri. After securing victory in the sprint race the day before, Norris turned
his pole position into his 11th career Formula One win, boosting his title prospects. He now leads McLaren teammate Piastri by 24 points, who finished fifth after a 10-second penalty for an earlier collision.
Max Verstappen showcased another remarkable performance in South America, finishing third. Kimi Antonelli delivered an impressive display, achieving his best F1 finish in second place. Oliver Bearman of Haas and Liam Lawson from Racing Bulls secured sixth and seventh positions respectively. Isack Hadjar and Sauber's Nico Hulkenberg followed them, while Pierre Gasly completed the top ten with his first points since July's Belgian Grand Prix.
The race began with a virtual safety car as Gabriel Bortoleto spun out on the first lap. Following the restart, chaos unfolded at Interlagos when Piastri locked up at the first corner, colliding with Antonelli and Ferrari's Charles Leclerc, ending Leclerc's race. This incident resulted in Piastri receiving a 10-second penalty. Meanwhile, Verstappen was making significant progress through the field.
As Norris crossed the finish line 10 seconds ahead of second place, Antonelli and Verstappen engaged in a thrilling battle for position. Despite Verstappen closing in on Antonelli, the young driver held on to secure second place. The F1 calendar will continue in Las Vegas in two weeks.

After triumphing in Mexico City, Norris knew Brazil was crucial for maintaining his championship lead with three races and one sprint left in 2025. He has now become only the fifth driver to achieve at least 17 podium finishes in a single season alongside Lewis Hamilton (five times), Verstappen (three), Sebastian Vettel, and Michael Schumacher (once each).
Despite being 49 points behind Norris in pursuit of a fifth consecutive title, Verstappen can be proud of his efforts at Interlagos. He became just the eighth driver to secure a podium finish after starting from the pit lane since Hamilton did so at Hungary's Grand Prix in 2014.
