A development in the Premier League has created shockwaves across the world, as Destiny Udogie, Tottenham Hotspur's Italian left-back, was allegedly threatened at gunpoint by his own football agent on
a busy street in North London on the night of September 6.
The threatening incident occurred while Udogie was walking with a friend. Following the confrontation, the Metropolitan Police were called around 11:14 pm, and no physical injuries were reported.
The agent, aged 31, was arrested two days later at his home on suspicion of possession of a firearm with intent to cause fear of violence, blackmail, extortion, and driving without a license. He was released on bail pending further investigation. This incident reportedly stemmed from a dispute after Udogie decided to terminate his professional relationship with the agent, who is believed to be a prominent figure representing players in the UK.
The friend accompanying Udogie also faced threats and attempts at extortion during the incident. Tottenham Hotspur has publicly confirmed the situation and stated they have been providing support to Udogie and his family since the event occurred. Tottenham emphasized the legal nature of the matter and refrained from further commenting.

Despite the traumatic episode, Udogie returned to play promptly, featuring in Tottenham's Champions League 4-0 win over FC Copenhagen shortly after. He also played in the Premier League game against West Ham a week later. Udogie joined Spurs from Udinese in 2022 and recently signed a contract extension keeping him at the club until 2030. The club and police continue to manage the ongoing investigation.
The incident caused a huge shock across football circles given the unusual and severe nature of threats coming from within personal management circles. Tottenham's strong backing of Udogie and the police's active inquiry highlight the seriousness with which the case is being handled.
