Arsenal's Katie Reid is set to miss the rest of the 2025-26 season due to an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury. The club announced on Monday that Reid sustained the injury during a training session
before their 1-1 draw with Chelsea in the Women's Super League last weekend. This is a significant setback for the 19-year-old, who had been performing well this season.
Reid has played six matches in the Women's Super League this season for Renee Slegers' team. Arsenal currently holds fourth place in the league, trailing leaders Manchester City by six points. Reid was filling in at central defence for injured captain Leah Williamson, who has been out since Euro 2025 with a knee injury.
This ACL injury marks the third such incident for an Arsenal player early in the season. Michelle Agyemang, on loan at Brighton, suffered a similar injury while playing for England against Australia last month. Additionally, goalkeeper Manuela Zinsberger injured her ACL during training ahead of a Champions League match against Benfica in October.
Reid will undergo surgery to address her ACL issue. Her absence is a considerable loss for Arsenal as she had made a promising start to her campaign. The young defender's performances were crucial, especially given Williamson's ongoing recovery from her own knee injury.
