The wedding of star Indian women's cricketer Smriti Mandhana and music composer Palash Muchhal has been postponed indefinitely due to the sudden illness of Mandhana's father, Shrinivas Mandhana.
Early on Sunday morning, while having breakfast, Shrinivas Mandhana's health deteriorated rapidly, prompting the family to call an ambulance and admit him to a hospital in Sangli, where he is currently under observation after suffering a heart attack.
Given the seriousness of the situation, Smriti Mandhana, deeply attached to her father and supported by him throughout her cricket career, chose to delay the wedding until he recovers fully.
Tuhin Mishra, Mandhana's manager, confirmed the development, explaining that the family waited to see if Shrinivas Mandhana's condition
would improve but decided not to take any risks.
Mishra shared, "Smriti is very close to her father. So, she has decided to postpone the marriage, which was going to happen today, till her father is fine. "
The doctor also recommended that Shrinivas Mandhana stay hospitalized for the time being. Mishra expressed the emotional impact on the family and requested privacy during this difficult time.
The wedding was initially scheduled for Sunday in Mandhana's hometown of Sangli, with a week-long celebration already in progress, including traditional pre-wedding rituals such as Mehendi, Haldi, and Sangeet. The couple had even organized a friendly Bride Team versus Groom Team cricket match to entertain guests. However, with the postponement, the date for rescheduling remains undecided as the family focuses on the father's health recovery.
