Leeds United manager Daniel Farke remained composed as his team secured a thrilling draw against Liverpool, concluding a demanding week. Leeds twice came from behind at Elland Road, first from 2-0 and then from 3-2 down. Ao Tanaka's late goal in stoppage time earned them a point after also defeating Chelsea at home earlier in the week, following a narrow loss to Manchester City.
Hugo Ekitike scored twice for Liverpool, giving them an early second-half lead. However, Leeds fought back with goals from Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Anton Stach. Dominik Szoboszlai briefly restored Liverpool's advantage before Tanaka's dramatic equaliser. Farke described the week as exhausting but rewarding, noting the tactical challenges faced against top teams like
Pep Guardiola's Manchester City.
Farke praised his players' resilience and adaptability during this challenging period. "We showed unbelievable resilience and experience," he said. Despite not being among the top teams in terms of individual talent, Farke highlighted the team's hard work and dedication on the pitch. "The lads work their socks off and leave their hearts on the pitch," he added.
The team's ability to score three or more goals in consecutive Premier League games at Elland Road was last achieved in May 2021. This performance left Farke reflecting on what he called a "magic Elland Road performance. " He emphasised the importance of maintaining energy levels both defensively and offensively against strong opponents.
Facing world-class teams required strategic planning, according to Farke. He acknowledged that Leeds couldn't match these teams in quality but could surprise them tactically. "We have to be spot on in tactical terms," he explained. The manager also mentioned his role on the sidelines, stating, "I can't afford to be too emotional; I have to always try and find solutions. "
Leeds' recent performances have moved them up to 16th place in the league standings, three points clear of relegation danger. However, this position could change based on Brighton's match against West Ham on Sunday. Despite the challenges faced during this intense week, Farke expressed joy at spending a relaxing weekend with coffee and cake.

Reflecting on the week's events, Farke noted it wasn't one of his best weeks but certainly one of the most demanding ones as a Premier League manager. He credited his players for their efforts while acknowledging that they deserved to enjoy their achievements over the weekend.
