Mumbai, Jan 6: Speculation surrounding the upcoming reality show The 50 has intensified amid reports suggesting that Indian cricketer Yuzvendra Chahal and choreographer-social media influencer Dhanashree Verma could appear together as contestants.
The development has attracted considerable attention as Chahal and Dhanashree, who were married in 2020, divorced last year. If confirmed, their participation together is expected to add a significant layer of interest to the show, which is being projected as one of India's largest reality television formats. The makers of The 50 are yet to officially confirm the contestant list.
Former Couple's Rumoured Participation Draws Focus
According to multiple media reports, both Chahal and Dhanashree feature in a tentative list of participants doing the rounds
online. Their reported inclusion has become a major talking point, given their highly public separation and continued individual public profiles.
Industry observers believe that their presence together in a competitive reality environment could influence early viewer interest, though it remains unclear how the format will address personal equations between contestants.
High-Profile Names Linked to Tentative Contestant List
Apart from Chahal and Dhanashree, several other prominent names are being linked with the show. These include entrepreneur Tanya Mittal, rapper Emiway Bantai, actor Saba Azad, social media personality Orry, and television actors Nikki Tamboli, Shweta Tiwari, Ankita Lokhande and Shiv Thakare.
Digital creators Kusha Kapila and Faisal Shaikh, popularly known as Mr Faisu, are also reported to be part of the rumoured line-up. Reality show regulars such as Pratik Sehajpal and former India cricketer Sreesanth are believed to have been approached as well, indicating a cast designed to blend popularity with competitive experience.
Format Designed for Scale and Strategy
Unlike conventional reality shows with limited participants, The 50 will feature as many as fifty contestants. The format is expected to test adaptability, mental strength and strategic awareness, with no confirmed details yet on elimination rules.
The scale of participation is seen as a key differentiator, with producers aiming to create unpredictable alliances and conflicts through a diverse mix of athletes, entertainers and digital influencers.
The 50: Premiere Details
The 50 is scheduled to premiere on February 1. The show will stream first on JioHotstar at 9 pm, followed by its television broadcast on Colors TV at 10.30 pm.
With official confirmation awaited, it is the reported participation of Chahal and Dhanashree together that continues to drive conversations around The 50, adding to anticipation ahead of its debut.
