Erling Haaland stressed that the Premier League title race stays alive after Manchester City’s dramatic win at Anfield, where a 92nd-minute penalty completed a comeback against Liverpool and kept City within six points of leaders Arsenal, with 13 league fixtures still remaining this season.
The result meant that a defeat, which would have left City nine points behind Arsenal, was avoided, and Pep Guardiola’s team now also have the chance to close the gap to three points when City host Fulham on Wednesday, before Arsenal meet Brentford on Thursday.
City had to overturn a deficit after Dominik Szoboszlai’s free-kick gave Liverpool the lead, but Haaland first set up Bernardo Silva’s equaliser and then converted from the spot at 92:42, which is the latest
winning goal by any visiting side at Anfield in Premier League records since 2006-07.
The victory completed a league double over Liverpool for the first time since the 1936-37 campaign, and this is just the sixth time Manchester City have achieved that feat against the Reds in top-flight football, underlining the scale of the result in the Premier League title race.
Haaland has lifted the Premier League trophy with City in 2022-23 and 2023-24, and the Norway international believes another triumph remains possible in May, saying: "Its three points, simple as that, no matter who you play, if it is Tottenham or whatever," as City chase a third straight success.
The forward pointed to the wider context of recent title battles between City and Arsenal, noting that small margins often decide the Premier League title race and that wins away at major rivals like Liverpool can prove crucial when the table tightens during the final months.
Haaland also reflected on the late twist and the atmosphere in the away end, stating: "Weve seen before that the title race is not over until its over. Of course, and look at the emotions with the fans in the end, it was amazing. They deserve it, after supporting us, week in, week out, and, yeah, they definitely deserve to win at Anfield. Ive never won here before, so its amazing to come here and be able to win for the first time. As everyone knows, its not easy because of the history that City and Liverpool have had for the last decade. Theres also history behind it also. So, of course, its a good feeling. "

That personal milestone at Anfield added to another statistic from the Premier League title race, as Haaland has now scored at 23 of the 24 Premier League stadiums that Haaland has played at, underlining City’s reliance on Haaland in decisive away matches across England.
With City closing in on Arsenal again, the win at Liverpool strengthens belief in Guardiola’s squad that the Premier League title race will extend deep into the final weeks, especially with history on City’s side after edging Arsenal in each of the past two league seasons.
