Ishan Kishan became the fifth batsman playing for Sunrisers Hyderabad who was dismissed in the 'nervous nineties'. The left-hander, who is leading the side this year in the absence of Pat Cummins, was in touching distance of yet another ton for his franchise. However, the left-hander was dismissed just 9 runs short of a blistering innings.
With this, the left-hander batter from Jharkhand became the fifth batter to be dismissed in the 90s. The list includes former SRH captain David Warner, who has been dismissed in the score of 90 on three occasions. It also includes the name of Jonny Bairstow, who was out for 97 against the Punjab Kings.
SRH vs RR: Unusual Interruption In The Match
Sunrisers Hyderabad's clash against Rajasthan Royals at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium witnessed an unusual
interruption as a sudden floodlight failure brought the game to a halt, unsettling both players and spectators.
The unexpected blackout proved costly for Ishan Kishan, who was in sublime form and closing in on a century. After winning the toss, Rajasthan skipper Riyan Parag opted to field first, with Jofra Archer striking immediately by removing Abhishek Sharma off the very first delivery. Travis Head too failed to convert his start, but Kishan took charge of the innings and put the opposition under pressure.
Just after the 13th over, the floodlights went out due to a technical issue, forcing a temporary stoppage. Although power was restored shortly and play resumed, the interruption seemed to break Kishan's momentum. Despite the brief disruption, the match resumed quickly, but the moment arguably altered the course of what was shaping up to be a landmark innings for Kishan.
Meanwhile, Sandeep Sharma deceived Kishan with a slower bouncer. Attempting an aggressive shot, Kishan mistimed it, resulting in a return catch to the bowler. In the process, Sandeep collided with wicketkeeper Dhruv Jurel, but managed to hold on. Kishan departed for a brilliant 91 off 44 balls, falling just nine runs short of a deserved hundred, having struck eight fours and six sixes.
SRH finished their first innings for 216 at the loss of 6 wickets.
