Wolves have appointed Rob Edwards as their new head coach on a three-and-a-half-year contract. This decision follows the dismissal of Vitor Pereira, who was let go after failing to secure a win in 10 Premier
League matches. Pereira's last game was a 3-0 defeat against Fulham on November 2. Edwards, a former Wolves defender, has taken over after leaving Middlesbrough.
Edwards' departure from Middlesbrough came after just five months in charge. Initially, Middlesbrough declined Wolves' request to speak with Edwards but later agreed to talks following a compensation agreement. During his brief tenure at Middlesbrough, Edwards led the team to second place in the Championship, losing only two out of 15 league games (W8 D5).
Currently, Wolves are at the bottom of the Premier League table with only two points from 11 matches. They have lost their last four games and are eight points away from safety. This season marks only the second time in club history that they have failed to win any of their first 11 league games, the previous instance being in the 1983-84 season when they were relegated.

Jeff Shi, Wolves' executive chairman, expressed confidence in Edwards by stating: "I know Rob very well, and I have seen his growth in different jobs. " Shi highlighted Edwards' familiarity with the club and city and praised his tactical awareness and leadership skills developed during his coaching career.
Edwards previously played for Wolves between 2004 and 2008 and served as interim coach in 2016 after Walter Zenga's departure. He also has Premier League experience with Luton Town but faced relegation after one season despite winning promotion through the Championship play-offs.
Challenges Ahead for Rob Edwards
At Luton Town, Edwards managed only six wins during their Premier League campaign, resulting in an average of 0.7 points per game. His managerial journey also includes guiding Forest Green Rovers to promotion from League Two in the 2021-22 season before a brief stint at Watford, where he was dismissed after just 11 games.
The appointment of Rob Edwards marks a new chapter for Wolves as they aim to rejuvenate the club with fresh ideas and philosophies under his leadership. The club hopes that his understanding of its culture and fans will help them overcome their current challenges.
