IND vs SA: The Uttar Pradesh Cricket Association (UPCA) has confirmed a full refund for all spectators who purchased tickets for the fourth T20 International between India and South Africa, which was abandoned
due to persistent fog in Lucknow.
The decision comes after widespread disappointment among fans who were left without any on-field action as weather conditions failed to improve throughout the evening.
The match, scheduled for a 7:00 pm start at the Ekana International Cricket Stadium, never got underway. Dense fog enveloped the ground, severely affecting visibility and forcing officials to conduct multiple inspections. After the sixth assessment at around 9:30 pm on Wednesday, the umpires were left with no option but to call off the contest in the interest of player safety.
In an official statement, UPCA secretary Prem Manohar Gupta assured fans that the association would process refunds in a structured and transparent manner. He clarified that spectators who booked their tickets online will automatically receive the refund through the same payment method used at the time of purchase. Refund-related alerts and updates will be sent to the registered email IDs, and ticket holders have been advised to keep a close watch on their inboxes for further communication.
For fans who bought tickets offline, UPCA has outlined a separate procedure. Refunds for physical ticket holders will be issued at the box office located at Gate No. 2 of the Ekana International Cricket Stadium. The refund counters will remain open on December 20, 21, and 22, between 11:00 am and 6:00 pm.
Offline ticket holders must carry their original physical tickets along with a valid government-issued photo ID for verification. In addition, they will be required to provide their bank account details and complete a refund form available at the counter. The original ticket and the duly filled form must be submitted for scrutiny. Once the documents and details are verified, the refund amount will be transferred directly to the spectator's bank account.
UPCA has made it clear that refunds will only be processed after successful verification of all submitted documents and information.
Meanwhile, the focus now shifts to Ahmedabad, where India and South Africa are set to clash in the fifth and final T20I of the series on Friday, bringing an end to a tour that has already seen its share of dramatic moments.
