Paris Saint-Germain's goalkeeper, Lucas Chevalier, expressed disappointment following their 1-0 loss to Monaco. The defeat came from Takumi Minamino's goal in the second half at Stade Louis II. This result allows both Marseille and Lens the chance to surpass PSG in the league standings this weekend.
PSG's performance this season has seen them fail to score in two Ligue 1 matches already, more than last season's total. They have also experienced two losses after 14 games, a record not seen since the 2020-21 season when they finished second. Under QSI ownership, PSG have only recorded fewer points at this stage in 2012-13 and 2020-21.
Chevalier shared his thoughts with Ligue 1+ and BeINSport, noting that PSG fell short of their usual standards.
"There were quite a few things that didn't go our way today. We lacked impact, we lost possession a bit silly. I think we weren't at 100%," he said. He acknowledged Monaco's sharper play and admitted that despite pushing hard in the final minutes, it wasn't enough.
The team has been dealing with numerous injuries and a packed schedule since the season began. Chevalier remarked on the challenges of facing strong European teams like Monaco amidst such circumstances. "We have to use this experience for the future," he added.
Head coach Luis Enrique was critical of his team's performance against Monaco. Speaking to BeIN Sport, he stated: "When you play a match like that with so many inaccuracies and errors, it's impossible to win. " He emphasized the need to review the match thoroughly to understand their shortcomings.
PSG's recent away form has been concerning, with only two wins in their last six Ligue 1 away games. This contrasts sharply with their previous record of losing just five out of 24 away matches before this period.

The current season differs significantly from last year for PSG. Chevalier noted that they faced a formidable opponent in Monaco but admitted they didn't exert enough effort across all aspects of the game.
The team is now focused on learning from these experiences as they navigate through a challenging schedule filled with consecutive matches against tough opponents.
