The 2025-26 Vijay Hazare Trophy, India's premier domestic List A (50-over) cricket tournament, kicked off on December 24, 2025, and is scheduled to run until January 18, 2026.
Featuring all 38 teams from
the Ranji Trophy circuit, the competition is divided into four Elite Groups (A, B, C, D) with eight teams each and one Plate Group with six teams. The format follows a round-robin structure within groups during the league stage, with the top teams advancing to the knockout rounds, including quarterfinals, semifinals, and the final.
Vijay Hazare Trophy 2025-26 Venues
Matches are hosted across multiple venues, including Ahmedabad, Bengaluru (with some at the BCCI Centre of Excellence due to logistical adjustments), Alur, Jaipur, and Rajkot, starting at 9:00 AM IST to mitigate dew factors and emphasize early bowling conditions.
Star attractions include the return of international heavyweights like Virat Kohli (Delhi) and Rohit Sharma (Mumbai), both focusing on ODIs ahead of the 2027 World Cup and scheduled for the first two matches. Kohli, fresh off a Player of the Series performance against South Africa (two hundreds and an unbeaten fifty), aims to maintain his 50-over surge. Rohit, playing his first VHT since 2017-18, recently notched a hundred in Australia and two fifties against South Africa.
