For months, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi has been making headlines with record-breaking knocks, breathtaking six-hitting and performances beyond his years. Yet, for the 15-year-old batting sensation, nothing compared to the moment he saw his name on the back of an India jersey for the first time.
Days after earning his maiden senior call-up, Sooryavanshi admitted he was left speechless when he received the coveted blue jersey, describing it as the fulfilment of a dream that began the day he first picked up a cricket bat.
'The Reason I Started Playing Cricket'
In a video shared by the BCCI, the teenager struggled to put his emotions into words.
"The reason I first picked up a bat and started practising at a cricket ground was to one day wear the India jersey, and that dream has come true today.
It feels unreal," Sooryavanshi said.

The youngster revealed the moment left him overwhelmed.
The moment I saw the jersey, I was so happy. I couldn't stop smiling. Sometimes things happen in your life that you never even imagine, and when they do, you are unable to react. That was exactly my reaction. "
For a player whose rise has been fuelled by fearless batting and remarkable composure under pressure, this was one occasion where words deserted him.
Vaibhav Sooryavanshi Rewarded For A Remarkable Rise
The India call-up caps a whirlwind year that has transformed Sooryavanshi from a teenage prodigy into one of the most exciting prospects in world cricket.
He has been included in India's squad for the white-ball tour of the United Kingdom, featuring two T20Is against Ireland and a five-match T20I series against England.
The selection comes on the back of a stunning run of performances across formats and competitions.
Vaibhav Sooryavanshi a Big-Game Batter Emerging At 15
Sooryavanshi's latest statement came in the India A tri-series final against Sri Lanka A, where he blasted 94 off just 29 balls and shattered the List A record for the fastest fifty, reaching the landmark in only 11 deliveries.
That innings helped India A secure a 66-run victory and added another chapter to a year defined by performances on cricket's biggest stages.
Earlier in 2026, he smashed 175 off 80 balls against England in the Under-19 World Cup final, the highest individual score in the history of a U-19 World Cup final.
His fearless approach continued in the IPL, where he produced two match-defining knocks during Rajasthan Royals' playoff run. He hammered 97 off 29 balls in the Eliminator against Sunrisers Hyderabad before following it up with 96 off 47 deliveries in Qualifier 2 against Gujarat Titans.
Vaibhav Sooryavanshi Numbers That Defy His Age
Across four of the highest-pressure matches he has played this year - the Under-19 World Cup final, IPL Eliminator, IPL Qualifier 2 and India A tri-series final - Sooryavanshi has amassed 462 runs from just 185 balls.
That translates to a staggering strike rate of 249.73.
More impressively, those innings have all come in knockout matches, finals or qualification-defining encounters, highlighting a temperament that appears far beyond his age.
Next Stop: India Debut
The next challenge now awaits in international cricket.
India begin their tour with two T20Is against Ireland before travelling to England for a five-match series, where Sooryavanshi could become the latest teenage sensation to wear the national colours.
For now, though, the youngster is still soaking in a moment that mattered more than any record, milestone or headline.
Before the sixes, the centuries and the spotlight, there was a dream. And for Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, seeing his name on an India jersey was the moment that dream finally became reality.
