Leicester City let a 3-0 half-time advantage slip in a 4-3 home defeat to Southampton, extending a winless Championship sequence to six matches and deepening fears of back-to-back relegations, especially after a recent six-point deduction left Leicester in a tight battle near the bottom three.
The loss keeps Leicester on 32 points, level with Blackburn Rovers, who currently hold the final relegation position and have played one match more, while Leicester sit four points clear of Oxford United, who lost 3-0 to Norwich City and remain close to the drop zone.
Norwich City strengthened survival hopes by earning a fifth win in six matches, moving seven points clear of relegation danger after defeating Oxford United 3-0, a result that increases pressure
on Leicester as other teams near the foot of the Championship table collect crucial points at a vital stage.
At the King Power Stadium, Leicester appeared secure when Divine Mukasa and Patson Daka struck within the opening 13 minutes, before Abdul Fatawu added a powerful third before the half-hour, but Southampton responded after the break through Ross Stewart, whose goal started a dramatic late surge from the visitors.
Southampton’s recovery gathered pace in the final 10 minutes as Jack Stephens and Ryan Manning levelled the score, then Shea Charles struck a superb 96th-minute winner, leaving Leicester defeated in front of home supporters and stretching a miserable run that has raised serious concern around interim manager Andy King’s task.
Norwich’s victory over Oxford featured a standout individual performance from Mohamed Toure, who joined from Randers at the end of the January transfer window and marked a first Norwich start with a hat-trick, delivering all three goals in a controlled display that further stabilised Norwich’s position above the relegation line.

Elsewhere in the Championship, West Brom collected an important point in the survival race with a goalless draw away to local rivals Birmingham City, a result that nudged West Brom slightly further from immediate danger, even though neither side managed to break through in a cautious derby contest.
Leicester’s early goals from Mukasa and Daka continued a pattern, with no Championship side scoring more in the first 15 minutes of matches, yet another trend also persisted as Leicester again failed to protect a lead, allowing Southampton to overturn what appeared a commanding position.
| Team | Points dropped from winning positions |
|---|---|
| Wrexham | 20 |
| Derby County | 18 |
| Leicester City | 17 |
Only Wrexham, with 20, and Derby County, with 18, have lost more points from winning positions than Leicester’s 17 this season, while Leicester have also suffered three consecutive home defeats in the same Championship campaign for the first time since the 2006-07 season, underlining the scale of current problems.
