Paris Saint-Germain struggled to find the net in their Champions League match against Athletic Club, ending in a 0-0 draw at San Mames. Despite creating several opportunities, PSG's finishing let them
down. Bradley Barcola hit the crossbar in the second half, and Unai Simon's impressive goalkeeping kept the visitors from scoring.
Fabian Ruiz had an early chance but volleyed over the bar in the 20th minute. Later, Alex Berenguer forced a save from Matvey Safonov with a curling shot. Just before half-time, Warren Zaire-Emery delivered a perfect cross to Senny Mayulu, who unfortunately directed his shot straight at Simon.
After the break, Zaire-Emery was denied by Simon again with a powerful shot from inside the box. Barcola also came close when he cut in from the left and struck the woodwork with a right-footed effort. Fabian Ruiz had another opportunity late in the game but shot directly at Simon after being set up by Desire Doue.

Unai Simon was crucial for Athletic Club, making four key saves to keep PSG at bay. The Spanish goalkeeper's performance was instrumental in preventing PSG from converting any of their chances into goals.
Despite their struggles in front of goal, PSG remains third in the league phase with two matches left in January. Meanwhile, Athletic Club sits at 28th and needs victories to secure a play-off spot.
Statistical Insights
Before this matchday, PSG had scored 51 Champions League goals this year, leading European competitions by 13 goals. However, they were uncharacteristically wasteful against Athletic Club. Out of 18 shots taken by PSG, only five were on target despite generating an expected goals (xG) value of 2.05 compared to Athletic's 0.56.
The Parisians created five significant chances but failed to capitalise on them due to poor finishing and Simon's excellent goalkeeping display.
