The migration from the IPL to PSL continues ahead of the 2026 season, which has put both tournaments in the same window.
As the IPL 2026 auction approaches, former South Africa captain and batter Faf du
Plessis announced that he would be skipping the tournament for Pakistan Super League.
And after Du Plessis, another player has decided to join the Pakistan league. Former England player Moeen Ali, who was part of the Kolkata Knight Riders, has announced his availability for PSL in 2026.
"I'm really excited to be joining HBL PSL in its New Era. The league has earned a reputation for top-level T20 cricket, with high-quality competition and world-class talent across every team. Playing in Pakistan is always incredible; quality of cricket is outstanding and the passion and intensity from the crowd push you to bring your best. I'm looking forward to being part of it all and creating some great memories along the way. Ready for another special experience Insha'Allah!," Moeen Ali wrote, confirming his move.
The England all-rounder was bought by KKR in the IPL mega auction for Rs 2 crore. He played just six matches for them and picked up 6 wickets. As KKR decided to release Ali ahead of the mini auction, he has opted not to take part in the IPL auction.
The veteran Englishman has previously won the IPL with Chennai Super Kings in 2021, and has been part of the Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the past as well. Over the years, the 38-year-old has played 73 matches in the IPL, scoring 1167 runs and picking up 41 wickets.
