Kolkata Knight Riders youngster Angkrish Raghuvanshi has been handed a sanction by the IPL for his outburst in the IPL 2026 match on Sunday (April 26).
In the IPL 2026 match between LSG and KKR at Ekana Stadium, young KKR batter Angkrish Raghuvanshi was controversially dismissed for obstructing the field.
The incident occurred on the last ball of the fifth over. Raghuvanshi nudged a delivery from Prince Yadav towards mid-on and set off for a quick single. His partner, Cameron Green, immediately sent him back. Raghuvanshi turned sharply, dived back towards his crease as Mohammed Shami (fielding) threw the ball at the striker's end. The ball struck Raghuvanshi on the body.
LSG appealed, and after review, third umpire Rohan Pandit ruled him out under
Law 37 (obstructing the field). The key point: Raghuvanshi significantly changed his running line without probable cause, obstructing the fielder's attempt, even if a run-out wasn't guaranteed. IPL playing conditions supported this call, making Raghuvanshi only the fourth player (all Indians) dismissed this way in IPL history.
Raghuvanshi reacted furiously - slamming his bat, roaring in anger, and flinging his helmet into the KKR dugout. Head coach Abhishek Nayar confronted the fourth umpire. And after the outburst from the KKR batter, he has been sanctioned for "abuse of cricket equipment or clothing, ground equipment or fixtures and fittings during a Match. "
"Angkrish Raghuvanshi, batter & wicket-keeper, Kolkata Knight Riders, has been fined 20% of his match fee and has also accumulated one Demerit Point for breaching Level 1 of the IPL's Code of Conduct for Players and Team Officials during Match No. 38 against Lucknow Super Giants," a statement from IPL read.
The KKR player was found to have breached Article 2.2 of the IPL's Code of Conduct. KKR managed a crucial victory via Super Over and will play their next match against Sunrisers Hyderabad on May 3.
