Why has Shubman Gill Retired Hurt?
The reason behind Shubman Gill leaving the field is a neck injury. He experienced instant neck pain and stiffness after facing just three balls, which prevented him from moving his neck. The team physio attended to him on the field, and Gill had to retire hurt and walk off due to neck cramps and discomfort. The injury was described as a neck strain or neck cramps that significantly impacted his ability to continue batting in that innings.
Will Shubman Gill bat again?
The India captain is expected to play later in the innings. Although
he was experiencing pain, the issue is not deemed serious at the moment. At the moment, the physio and others are working on the India captain and if the pain relieves, he will come out to bat.
Rishabh Pant came in for Gill and India are currently 109 for 3 at the end of 40 overs. KL Rahul departed for 39 runs while Washington Sundar was dismissed on 29. India trail by 50 runs against the Proteas and will be aiming a big total in the first innings.
