The Australia squad for the 2nd Ashes Test against England at the Gabba starting December 4, 2025, remains unchanged from the dominant lineup that secured an emphatic eight-wicket victory in the first Test at Perth.
Despite skipper Pat Cummins being sidelined with a back injury for a second consecutive match, the Australians showed depth and resilience, led by Steve Smith, Marnus Labuschagne, and Cameron Green.
The pace attack, featuring Scott Boland, Mitchell Starc, Michael Neser, and Brendan Doggett, impressed with their bowling performance in Perth.
In the first Test, Australia overwhelmed England quickly, clinching the match inside two days with a commanding display in all departments. The batsmen laid a strong foundation while the bowlers
dismantled England's batting lineup with skillful swings and disciplined spin from Nathan Lyon.
A victory in the second Test will solidify Australia's case for another Ashes victory as their lead would be extended to 2-0. They have been in excellent form in this World Test Championship cycle so far, with a 100 per cent win record as they sit atop of the WTC points table.
England, on the other hand, have to improve significantly to put up a challenge against the hosts. The Perth Test was an awful one for them and the visitors will be desperate to turn things around, not just for the series, but to improve their WTC prospects as well. Before the 2nd Test, England will play a 2-day warm-up match against the Prime Ministers XI, starting from Saturday.
